• Long sleeves, pants, boots, or old sneakers (closed-toe)

• Yard work attire

• Hair pulled back, hats recommended

• We will be working outdoors in wooded conditions

• Remove invasive plants including bush honeysuckle, honeysuckle vine, rose of sharon, and wineberry

• Check for and remove poison ivy where encountered

• Pile debris and haul to designated green waste dumpsters

• The goal is to clean up the outdoor learning space to improve the hands-on experience for student learning and exploration!

This project is being done in partnership with Mobilize Frederick, a Maryland Green Center that supports Frederick County Public Schools in achieving Maryland Green School Certification. Mobilize Frederick has worked with Urbana Elementary School for the past several years to advance sustainability initiatives and environmental education, and the school is on track to receive its Green School Certification by the end of this year.
